City of Chicago chooses the National Firefighter Selection Inventory™ (NFSI) for 2006 Hiring
Selecting the best (most valid, reliable and fair) entry-level firefighter exam is a daunting task that requires a high level of knowledge and expertise. Independent scientific research has been conducted and a superior fighter examination has been identified; the National Firefighter Selection Inventory™ (NFSI).
The City of Chicago recently contracted with one of the most respected management consulting firms in the nation, Jeanneret & Associates, Inc. to research available entry-level firefighter exams and select the most valid, reliable and fair test for their hiring purposes. Jeanneret & Associates conducted a nationwide search and review of all available exams. Nine popular tests were subsequently assessed for important utility and risk factors and two of these were chosen for further analysis. These two tests were administered to a large incumbent firefighter sample within the Chicago Fire Department to identify the superior instrument in an independent and scientifically controlled study. I/O Solutions’ National Firefighter Selection Inventory™ demonstrated far greater levels of validity and exceptional levels of fairness (e.g., disparate impact). Subsequently, the City of Chicago recently completed the successful administration of the NFSI™ to over 20,000 firefighter candidates! <See Release>
