National Basic Abilities Test™ - NBAT™

The I/O Solutions National Basic Abilities Test^TM (NBAT^TM) was developed to assess minimum cognitive competencies for individuals wishing to pursue employment as law enforcement or correctional officers. Different versions of the NBAT^TM were developed for law enforcement and correctional officer selection based on the unique requirements and specifications of the positions.

The NBAT^TM examinations were developed using content-oriented and criterion-related validation strategies to meet the federal and professional guidelines for test development. The bases for this work were the several job-task analyses conducted throughout the nation, which provided a current and valid list of essential job tasks performed by incumbent officers in these disciplines. Using this information, I/O Solutions was able to create test questions and scenarios that are highly representative of the actual job content of law enforcement and correctional officers.
