National Correctional Officer Selection Inventory™ - NCOSI™

The NCOSI™ is an alternative to conventional correctional officer written entrance examinations and includes both a cognitive (i.e., reading comprehension, writing and basic math ability) and a correctional officer orientation (i.e., attitude, personality and motivation) component.

Including a personality/attitude component on entry-level exams is a unique approach that maximizes validity while reducing adverse impact against protected classes of individuals. This exam measures both what an individual is capable of doing (cognitive ability) and what an individual will do (attitude, personality, motivation).

The exam measures the same highly job-related cognitive and personality attributes as our popular entry-level law enforcement exam but is custom-designed for correctional officer candidates. As with all of our examinations, the NCOSI™ was designed specifically to predict success for correctional officer positions and to comply with all federal, state and local testing guidelines.
